Welcome to the Kingston Virtual FIR. This FIR provides ATC coverage for the countries of Jamaica, and The Cayman Islands. It is a part of VATCAR , which is the Caribbean division of VATSIM, and works closely with other FIR's in the Caribbean. It is our intent to provide the highest quality Virtual ATC service to pilots flying to our airports, or transitioning our airspace. At this time we will accept all controllers who are currently attached to and certified by VATCAR to provide ATC. It is very important to review, understand and comply with policies set forth by VATCAR and this FIR.

Please refer to the policies set by VATCAR for getting voice approval. To use our services Controllers need to get the free ASRC from www.asrc.info . Download the most recent version along with the manual, and read it thoroughly. It is very different from Pro Controller which is no longer approved for use on the VATSIM Network. The current version of ASRC supports and uses the old Pro Controller sector files for the time being. This too will change with the next release. The new ASRC does not use Roger Wilco and has its own voice client built in. Pilots need to use Squawkbox and supporting software to make it work. The AVC (voice client) tuner is required along with MS Flight Simulator or Terminal reality Fly2! Visit the Pilot resource center at VATSIM for all connection requirements and related software. In time a  new Squawkbox will be released which will be less complicated to connect to the network. With the transition to the new radar and pilot software it is very important that members and users become as familiar as possible with how they work, so that we can all enjoy a great experience.
