Haiti is our most resent addition to our lovely FIR control for Kingston Virtual. A country rich in mountainous terrain and wonderful VFR flight opportunities. It is also a short hop to some of the other islands in the Caribbean which can be accessed by single engine planes in less than 1 hour of flying. This service is being provided on a temporary basis until a formal operation is established for the Haiti FIR with their own staff, at which time our direct involvement will terminate

Quick side note: When Kingston CTR is online (MKJK_CTR), ATC may be provided to pilots transitioning the Haitian FIR at FL180 and above. ATC will not be provided for vectoring into and out of any airports in Haiti. Once the aircraft leaves the MTEG FIR in any direction and is not continuing through the Kingston FIR ATC services will terminate.
